The Chubby Ferret

A ferret a day keeps the blues away…

The “Me Wanty” Pose

2010.10

Have I ever shown you the “me wanty” ferret pose? Draco’s front paws are almost clasped; when doing the “me wanty” motion, ferrets will sit on their haunches (the “prairie dog” pose, we call it) and make a repeated grasping motion with their front paws. It’s quite cute, but also a little Igor-ish.

Minion vs The Green Chair

2010.10

Okay, there’s not really a battle going on here. The ferrets are actually pretty fond of this chair in the ferret playroom at the cousin’s house. It’s nice and climbable!

Minion looks nice and sleek here.

Ooooooooo! (Say in the alien toy voices from Toy Story)

2010.10

Minion: Oooooo! You have a can! ME WANTY!

Me: No Minion. It’s already open. You can’t have it or anything that’s in it.

Minion: CAN! CAN! CRINKLE CRINKLE! GIMME!

Me: Sigh.

(This is the ferret who loves to try and steal cans from you, and–if unopened–will open them for you too.)

Ferret Puzzle

2010.10

Okay, that’s definitely JJ’s butt Minion is using for a pillow (because of the lack of hair), but then that’s JJ’s head right next to the butt/Minion. In the background you see Ys in a nice contorted position, looking like the hairless butt should belong to her…Augh!

Put your paws in the air

2010.10

Ysabell apparently has mutant Freddy Kruger claws. >.>;

It’s a little hard to take her seriously

2010.10

I’m afraid the jaunty box clashes with her glowing red eyes.

Full House

I did my best to identify them, but ferret piles are fickle things.

I think he’s hungover

Poor Ares, Part 4

027

Definitely Minion attacking Ares this time, because that black butt with a pointed tail is Pepper.

WARNING: Ferrets are not for everyone

1.) For their own safety, ferrets should not be allowed to roam free in the house without supervision. Ferrets have far too much curiosity and not enough sense of self preservation.
2.) Ferrets should have 1-4 hours of playtime every day (how much really depends on your ferret; mine pass out after 1 to 2 hours). A playpen will work in a pinch, but a ferret-proofed room in your house is preferable. They love to run (and to be chased)!
3.) Ferrets do not live very long in the US (on average only about 6 years). They are also very prone to health issues. There *will* be vet bills. Minion cost us $600 when he had a blockage from ingesting part of a couch, and that's *without* surgery.
